The Northwest Fire District is offering our in-person Babysitting Program this summer. This class is designed to familiarize students with the basic knowledge and skills to safely care for infants and children.  Our goal is to ensure students gain the confidence to make smart decisions and stay safe in any babysitting situation.

We are excited to expand our program in a partnership with the Golder Ranch Fire District.  Two courses will be offered at the Golder Ranch Fire and Life Safety Services Building on Magee Road.  

*Please note: Students must be between the ages of 12-15 to participate in this course.

 Topics include:

  • Business of Babysitting
  • Ages and stages
  • Basic of Babysitting
  • Behavior and discipline
  • Personal Safety/Home Alone
  • Kitchen Safety/Fire Extinguisher Training
  • Poison Control
  • First Aid & Choking
  • CPR/Child CPR*
  • Hygiene


**We do not offer American Heart Association certification through this course.  Participants will receive all necessary CPR training, but a card with not be administered upon completion.

Northwest Fire District will be offering a FREE virtual on-line babysitting course.  This on-line course is designed to provide beginning babysitters, primarily ages 11 and older, with advice and tips for caring for kids of all ages.  Read below for course information and instruction.

  • First Aid & Choking
  • CPR/Child CPR

Please note that the CPR portion of this course DOES NOT include CPR certification. This class is designed to be self-paced on demand with 12 days to complete all the assignments and quizzes.  We do not have live meeting times in the course.  There are 11 modules that include a video presentation and quiz that can be done at the student's convenience to allow for flexibility around the family's schedules.  The student can log in at any time day or night between now and the end of the course to complete these assignments. 

Course Instructions:

  1. Babysitting Class Code will be sent to the email provided on July 27 (check junk mail if not received)
  2. Please remember to tap the "Classwork" button in the app to view the assignments in the order they are to be viewed. 
  3. Class concludes on August 7, 2020 by 5:00pm
  4. Please have all quizzes completed by August 7, 2020                                                                                                                                             

Grading will be completed and certificates distributed the week of August 10, 2020.  Please note a confirmation of your registration will be emailed to you. This program will consist of a review of the Command Functions and Communications Principles from the online training program and evaluation in Multi-Position Tactical Simulations for five different building types. Participants must have completed the Blue Card Online Training Program prior to the first day of class offered through www.bshifter.com
